Monster Magnet performing 'Spine of God"

In 1991, Monster Magnet released their first full-length album, 'Spine of God'.
The phrase "Stoner Rock" hadn't even been invented yet, and what Monster Magnet recorded back in the day was so new and different that a term had to be made up for it.
Admittedly, Kyuss were really the first who used it. But still, the 'Spine of God' kept Metal upright and alive at the beginning of the 90s and still is until today the original blueprint for the genres of Desert or Stoner Rock.
And only one year after Dave Wyndorf and his band graced the audience with a live performance of their other groundbreaking album, 'Dopes to Infinity', they've come back to celebrate the sheer sonic intensity that makes this album so mind-warping stuff, even without chemical additives.

I have seen Monster Magnet live a couple of times, but this time was better.
The venue was small, so the atmosphere was really personal, and Dave Wyndorf had such a great night, running around the stage, fooling around with the audience, and taking photos.
It was the best Monster Magnet show yet for me, and I am looking forward to the next.

Here's my video of the first encore, the rarely-heard 'Lord 13' from their 1991 EP '25......Tab':

Commissioned Work.

I am a regular at a bar/café (Link) near my workplace. I did take a couple of pictures there last year:

The photo above was instantly liked by a lot of people, so the owner of the bar asked me a couple of weeks ago if I would take some photos of special drinks they are serving in his place.

Here's the result:

All of the pictures were taken and edited with my iPhone 4S. All rights reserved. Drinks can be tested at Blauer Engel in Kiel.

Sailing Aphrodite - A Perfect End of Summer

On Monday, my wife and I were privilege to a nice little event that would mark the perfect ending of this year's summer.
Captain Aent Kingma of the Brigg 'Aphrodite' was leaving the Baltic Sea to take the ship to its winter quarter in the Netherlands. And we were invited!
It was a nice little trip from Sartorikai in Kiel through the locks at Kiel-Holtenau, where we met up with the 'Alexander v. Humboldt II', which was a pretty amazing sight, to the harbor of Rendsburg.
Rendsburg is about halfway through the Kiel-Canal, so it took about 6 hours to get there.

This trip aboard the 'Aphrodite' really was a perfect ending for the summer. A summer that included lots of sailing, lot of ocean and water, and making new friends.

Here are the photos:

Food Porn. (4)

Last weekend, we had another evening of cooking fine food with good friends.
The evening's theme was fish, so we hit the cook books and looked for inspiration.
After "free-cooking" without recipes the last couple of times, this time we primarily kept to the recipes we found and only altered a few things.
The result was that we learned tons of new stuff about cooking. It's really exciting to try out new stuff and learn to cook things you never even thought about.

Anyway, what came out on Saturday was a taste explosion. We started cooking at around 6:30pm and finished eating at about 2:30am.

Here are the photos:

Starter:
Creamy Crab Soup

Entree:
Tiger Shrimps on Black Noodles with Saffron Sauce and Mango-Basil-Chutney

Main Course:
Seabass on Champagne Cabbage with Grapes, Bacon and Croutons

Dessert:
Vanilla Junket with Drunken Fruit and Crunchy Leaves

I like Kiel. Part 4.

Last Sunday my wife and I took the harbor ferry over to Kiel's "East Coast" to enjoy the last warm rays of sun this summer.
There was a strong wind blowing which made the clouds paint really dramtic images in the sky.
It was a wonderful day with blue skies, white clouds, sailing ships and the sea.

Food Porn. (3)

Vorspeise:
Schweinische Kartoffelsuppe mit Bacon, Steinpilzen und Petersilie

Zwischengang:
Ferkelei in Nektarinen

Hauptspeise:
Pottsau mit Apfel und Zwiebeln

Dessert:
Schweineöhrchen an Vanilleeis

Playing with Photos. Part 8.

Here are a couple of new photos I've played with in the last couple of days using various apps, from Camera+ (App Store Link) over Rays (App Store Link) to Snapseed (App Store Link), throwing in a little Scratchcam (App Store Link) and Instagram here and there :)
