The Ghost Hotel Revisited

For a workshop, I had to travel to the eastern part of Germany, and since I already was in the area and the weather was great, a colleague and I decided to make a quick stop at the abandoned hotel.
I have to say, the last time I was there, the atmosphere was much more eerie. The weather was bleak a year ago, I think it was even raining a little bit.

The spa hotel was built in 1910, but the beginning of World War I led to a decline in tourism. The hotel was sold to a new owner and after a time of success in the 1920s, the hotel went bankrupt during the recession in 1931.
It was confiscated by the German Air Force in 1944 and used as a military hospital.
Since 1956, the hotel was used as a club house for the local sports club and was the sold again in 1984. Since 1990, the hotel has been abandoned.

The sunshine today made for some nice inside pictures, although I wouldn't recommend going in there to anyone. There are huge holes in the wooden floors and there are hardly any safe spots left to step on.

Anyway, it was nice to go back there, but I think it was my final visit in this location, as there is really nothing left to see anymore.

The Ghost Hotel

Okay, here's my first report of my tour of lost places in eastern Germany, the "Ghost Hotel" in Schwerin.

I had read about this object on the internet, and I had seen some photos, but the eerie feeling that crept up on me when I saw the hotel looking at me through the trees was really something.

We even thought we could hear children laughing. It was most likely children playing in the forest nearby, but it made a good addition to the already creepy atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the floorboards are so rotten that it is more than dangerous to be climbing around in there, especially on the upper floors. We went up to the third floor, but weren't able to walk into any of the rooms because of the holes in the floor.

Next time, I'll make a video of the walkthrough...this was not the last time I've been there, I tell you that!

Food Porn. (3)

Vorspeise:
Schweinische Kartoffelsuppe mit Bacon, Steinpilzen und Petersilie

Zwischengang:
Ferkelei in Nektarinen

Hauptspeise:
Pottsau mit Apfel und Zwiebeln

Dessert:
Schweineöhrchen an Vanilleeis

Playing with Photos. Part 8.

Here are a couple of new photos I've played with in the last couple of days using various apps, from Camera+ (App Store Link) over Rays (App Store Link) to Snapseed (App Store Link), throwing in a little Scratchcam (App Store Link) and Instagram here and there :)

Street Photography. First Try.

in the last couple of days, I felt the urge to take photos of people in the streets. I really don't like doing that, because I feel that I might invade their privacy, but I felt I had to do it.
What came out are my first shots (sic!) at street photography.
