I haven't seen many photos of this building on the internet, but the ones I have seen made this location interesting enough for a little visit.
From what I can see from the information I managed to gather, the brickyard was built in 1882 and was closed down in 1928.
In 1968, three days before the official comissioning of the nearby town's first fire engine, the brick factory was devastated by a big fire.
Now, only a ruin remains of the beautiful red brick gothic building. It is really dangerous to enter and even if possible, there isn't much to see as most of the area has been reclaimed by nature.
It was nice walk across some muddy acres to find that hole in the fence that got us in...
You might say I'm a collector. I collect rare objects. Facts, stories...I travel the roads of Germany seeking its heart.

Abandoned Hospital (Part 14)
Of course, I didn't spend the entire tour on friday in the basements - the light during sunset was beautiful and I managed to get some nice shots of the sun playing with the old building.

Abandoned Hospital - In a Different Light (Part 2)
You can also check out Part 1.
Yesterday I got the package from amazon containing the colorful glow sticks I had ordered after my last excursion to the old hospital and of course, I immediately needed to try them out.
But I didn't want to go alone, so I asked on facebook if anyone was interested in an evening tour of the basements, and whaddayaknow - about 10 minutes later, we were a group of four and met 30 minutes later on location.
I tried around with the glow sticks some more and out came some pretty neat results:
