We were on the way back from our tour of the middle of Germany, and since we left early, we had enough time to check out two more locations. Both of those were pretty close to the Autobahn, so there was no trouble to take these two quick side-trips.
The first object that day was an abandoned sugar factory.
There is nothing much to find about it on the web. Founded probably in 1873 and finally closed down in 1993, this was one of the largest sugar factories in the area, and a very progressive one as the company encouraged local farmers to invest into the company and become a kind of shareholders.
