Abandoned Hospital (Part 3)

Yesterday, I finally got my new camera - a Sony NEX-6, and so of course I had to take advantage of the very cold and windy, but beautiful weather today and try it out.
For my first tentative steps with my new favorite toy I chose the abandoned university clinic that had been the target of two of my previous expeditions.
The first building I entered was the last one I had gone into during my first visit and it was a good choice, because the sunny weather made for some really good light/shadow photos.

So here are the first shots I made with the NEX-6:

I will post the rest of the photos later today, so stay tuned for more...

Waste Incineration Plant Revisited

Yesterday, I took advantage of the cold and windy, but still rather good weather to take another trip to the old abandoned garbage incierator plant.
The last time I had been there was almost exactly a year ago and sadly, a lot has changed since then.
The old chimney has been entirely demolished, and most of the metal parts are gone, too.
I guess, they were too dangerous since the rust had really been eating through them and there really was a good chance of the stuff collapsing on some harmless urbexer's head...

Anyway, it was still a nice visit with some nice pictures and a little video.

There is almost no stuff to find about the building's history, so most I know is really just hearsay.
The plant was probably the first commercial waste incineration plant in Kiel; it's building year is unknown to me, but I think originally it is from a time when there were a couple of private waste disposal companies that had divided the market in Kiel between themselves. The plant was closed in the 1970's, I think, when there was a new big plant built for the entire region, and so this one has been rotting and being vadalized for the past fourty-odd years.

Here's the video of my walktgrough:

Food Porn - L’aile ou la cuisse

The motto of yesterday's evening of culinary delights was "L’aile ou la cuisse", so named after a famous French movie starring Louis de Funes (international title "The Wing and the Thigh").
So the topic was clear - French Cuisine.

We started off with a little snack made out of a slice of potato, a piece of foie gras and a tiny bit of caviar...

Appetizer: Potato Canapes

For the Soup, we chose the French classic - Onion Soup au gratin with cheese. Simple, but very delicious.

Soup: Onion Soup

Another French classic made the selection for our entree - Ratatouille. A dish that brought a taste of summer to our kitchen.

Entree: Ratatouille

For our main course, we initially had decided for rabbit with mustard sauce, but in the grocery store we discovered they had no rabbit, so we redisposed and went for Coq au vin.

Main Course: Coq au vin

After the main course, we finished off the dinner with a classic french cheese platter.

And for our dessert, we found the last French food cliché: Creme brulee.

Dessert: Crème brulée

I guess we can say we totally nailed that one. It was perfect.
